QUICK FTP INSTALLATION SUMMARY:

Linux/UNIX servers running apache, php and mysql! - your server must meet the minimum requirements in order to run properly.

Summary:
After you unzip the files on your local machine, ftp the whole contents of the "locator" folder
somewhere on the server that you can access it with an "http:" address.

You will be uploading PHP pages and graphics, so be sure to use "Auto" transfer mode, or use
ASCII for all php/script files and BINARY for all image files.

Once you have all the files and folders on your server, you need to change permissions on a few
of them.

Create your new MySQL Database without any tables. (just leave empty)

Begin the installation by accessing your install.php file in your browser.

--[STEP 1.]--
FTP upload all files and images to your server. We recommend uploading to a new directory named /locator.


--[STEP 2.]--
Change permissions to "Writable - CHMOD 0777" on the following files and directories:

A. CHMOD 0777 the following directories:
/locator/dbackup
/locator/key

B. CHMOD 0777 the following files:
/locator/admin/config.php
/locator/admin/codelock.php

--[STEP 3.]--
Create your new (empty) MySQL Database (more help on this in our online manual)

--[STEP 4.]--
Access your installation by viewing your install script in your browser:
http://www.yourservernamehere.com/locator/install.php

--[STEP 5.]--
The first screen of the installation will ask you to input your Member Account Information.
This information must be entered EXACTLY as you have entered it in your Account Profile.

A. Username - you chose this during signup
B. Password - you chose this during signup
C. Email - you gave us this during signup

If you enter this correctly, you will see a "Registration Complete" on the next screen.

If you get an error, go back to the first screen and try entering your information again. Be sure
to use the same CaSe.

******************** Special Notes About Registration: **********************************
The website's domain URL you gave us during signup, for your license, must be the exact same domain URL
you are installing and registering the software on. Our registration process will look closely at the
domain you are installing from and only allow you to continue if it matches exactly with what is on your
license on our servers.

For example: Lets say that during signup, you entered the following domain URL into the "Domain Name On License"
field: www.mysite.com

The following will succeed:
http://www.mysite.com/locator/install.php

The following will fail:
http://mysite.com/locator/install.php
http://subdomain.mysite.com/locator/install.php

If you need to change your domain name that is licensed to your account, you MUST send an email
to support@ultimatelocator.com. We do not allow you to login and make changes to this field in
your profile. It must be done by us. You have 30 days to change your domain on license for free.
After 30 days, there is a $25 fee for each time you need to change.

--[STEP 6.]--
Begin Multi-Step installation. Follow the instructions that are on your screen.

After you are finished with the 6 steps of installation, you will be asked to login to your Admin Control Panel,
where you can begin to manage your locator system.

--[STEP 7.]--
The first time you run the /admin/index.php control panel script and try to login to the Admin Control Panel,
you will be asked for an UNLOCK KEY. The unlock key is always the text 'ultimate' followed by the version number.

For example: If you are installing Ultimate Locator v2.3 the unlock key would be: ultimate2.3

You are also given a special file called X.htaccess in your /locator directory, if you experience trouble after
running the install, you can rename this file on your server to .htaccess (remove the X) and it may solve most issues.

Customization Options:

Version 2.3+ now supports HEADER and FOOTER templates.  You can now easily add your own html and graphics to these files for a quick way to customize the look and feel of your locator's Front-End.  These header/footer files get printed to the browser while your visitor is using your locator system. 

Template customizations:
You may also open the template files with your favorite html editor and change the html templates to better match
your own site's theme and layout. Be sure to see the Online User Manual before you start editing templates.

The Front-End html templates are located in the /locator/templates directory.
The Admin Control Panel templates are located in the /locator/templates/admin directory.

Encryption

To protect our copyrights and source code, certain files within your download have been encrypted. Our encryption
methods require that you have ZLib v1.1.4+ installed on your server. ZLib is usually installed, but there is a chance
that you have ZLib v1.1.3 or older version. If you have v1.1.3 or other version, please login to your account and
download the NZ version of the software. This is a "Non ZLib" encrypted version, and should run without requiring
ZLib on your server. There is no difference in the ZLib and Non-ZLib versions, except for the encryption method.
